Ceidlidh
raises £1,700
Corbridge Middle School was the venue for Cry in the Dark's annual Fundraising
Cedilih on Saturday 20th January 2008. The children's charity are fortunate
enough to have a committee of volunteers who come together each year to organise
the event to raise valuable funds for their special needs children's home and
children's hospice in Romania. Not only did the event raise a record amount
of money for the charity (£1,700) but it saw a record number of Ceidilh first
timers throwing their inhibitions aside and give the dancing a go! There was
even some Ceidilh 'free styling' going on by the end of the evening: probably
the result of people making the most of the very reasonably priced bar! The
dance floor was full from the first dance and there were calls for an encore
from the band at the end so it's safe to say that a great night was had by all.
A special thanks to Mike
Pottage who was unable to make it on the evening as he was unwell (so isn't
pictured) - but who put a lot of work into the preparation of the Ceilidh.
