Casa Albert

Casa Albert ("Albert's House"), the hospice building (above), now almost complete and ready to occupy, will be a local centre of excellence, working with young people with life-limiting illnesses such as HIV/AIDS. From here the following services will be provided:

-- Community supportive and palliative care
-- Day care and outpatient's clinic - including physiotherapy, play and counselling
-- Inpatient respite or end-of-life care
-- Education for carers, volunteers and professionals
-- Chapel for quiet prayer and Christian worship

The community team based in Casa Albert are already active in their palliative care services: please read our Hospice Casa Albert Project page to find out more.

We decided to name the Hospice Casa Albert project after a young boy called Albert, who befriended us ever since we began our ministry out there in 1998. We got to know him really well; but in the last two years we found out that he was HIV positive; and sadly he died on Tuesday, 11th May, 2004, peacefully at his father's home. He was a real inspiration to us and had such strong faith; as a testimony to his spirit and his faith we decided to name the home after him. We were able to tell him this before he passed away.
