Hospice Casa Albert Project



Asociatia Lumina is Cry In The Dark's charity name in Romania. The Hospice Casa Albert Project is staffed by employees of Asociatia Lumina; dedicated individuals recruited from Romania.

The Hospice Casa Albert Project, situated in the Bacau region of NE Romania, is currently providing community palliative care to a growing number of children and young people with incurable physical conditions with poor life expectancy, for example, childhood cancers or leukaemia, congenital conditions such as muscular dystrophy, and HIV/AIDS.

The children that we are reaching through the project, and their families and carers, live with the constant threat of their eventual deterioration, fatal infections and premature death. Current health and social care provision is grossly inadequate and the children and families are left to struggle alone and isolated. (Click here for Lilly's Story)

Our specialist multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, social workers and volunteer physiotherapist offer holistic support recognising that physical suffering is experienced also as emotional, social and spiritual pain. You can read more about them (and see some photos) in our update below:
